A Millstone For The Wicked
By David J. Stewart“But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.” —Matthew 18:6

The Word of God plainly warns against hurting a Christian in any way. In Matthew 18:6, Jesus stated that it would be better to have a large millstone chained around your neck, and then be cast to the bottom of the sea, than to persecute a true Christian.
Wow! A millstone weighs several hundred pounds. It is a large stone that is used to pound grain (such as wheat) into a fine powder. Can you imagine having one of these chained around your neck and then cast into the depths of the sea? Why did the Lord make such a violent statement? It’s because death is the least of your worries if you have to give account to a Holy God for harassing one of God’s own children.
The implication of Matthew 18:6 is clear—God’s most severest judgment will be executed upon those who antagonize, harass, attack, discredit, persecute, slander, and hurt a child of God. It is no light thing to God when someone persecutes one of His own, i.e., one who believes on Jesus name for salvation. Every born-again Christian has a special place in God’s heart. Any normal parent would go ballistic if someone were to hurt their child and you can rest assure that God is the same. God is a jealous God over His children.
Contrary to the wimpy, milquetoast, and easy-going god that society worships today; the God of the Bible is a Holy God Who gets angry, cares very much, pays attention to details, doesn’t “bend the rules” for anyone,. God will judge the wicked in His fiery hot displeasure. In Psalm 6:1 David prayed, “O LORD, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.” We read in Hebrews 10:27, “But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.” Woe unto the person who causes grief for the child of God.2nd Thessalonians 1:6-8,“Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
2nd Timothy 4:18, “And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”
"How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!” — Psalm 139:17
